System masonry heaters

Store maximum heat with a system

BRUNNER system masonry heaters are somewhat like a masonry heater kit, but they are not designed for DIY installation – they are intended for professional stove builders. These experts use them when no custom shapes or layouts are required, combining the selected masonry heater firebox with a modular storage and cladding kit. The surface, finished in a concrete look, can then be painted or plastered. A solid storage heater cannot be built faster or more cost-effectively.

System masonry heaters with a flat viewing window have the advantage of blending seamlessly into almost any living environment. Framed by the modern concrete casing, the fire behind the glass appears almost like a work of art — and easily rivals the television.

The system masonry heater for for primarily warmth with atmosphere

The sustainable heat storage wonder for cozy warmth

A system masonry heater impresses with its exceptional heat storage capacity: it is made entirely of high-quality chamotte, a material with outstanding thermal properties that slowly and evenly releases the absorbed energy. This creates pleasant radiant heat for many hours, ensuring a healthy and comfortable indoor climate. To achieve its full effect, the system masonry heater should be heated regularly. Since the massive storage materials need time to heat up completely, the stove should ideally not be allowed to cool down entirely.

The masonry heater operates with remarkable energy efficiency during self-sufficient heating: just a single load of wood is enough to provide consistent warmth for hours. This makes it an ideal choice for passive houses, ecological building designs, and sustainable living concepts that rely on natural heat sources and resource conservation.

Storage mass for (system) masonry heaters

A storage stove is typically fired twice a day. BRUNNER masonry heater fireboxes with fuel capacities of up to 18 kg make this level of convenience possible. To prevent the living area from overheating during the burn phase, the released heat energy is stored in flue gas-heated storage masses and then gradually emitted as radiant heat for many hours after the fire has burned down.

The required amount of storage mass is adjusted in size and design according to the firebox and the amount of fuel used. Mounted storage masses require smaller fuel quantities.

BRUNNER modular storage stones (MSS)

Modular storage stones

With BRUNNER modular storage stones (MSS), highly efficient heat storage systems with substantial mass can be built. Thanks to their high raw density, up to 20% more mass can be used compared to conventional chamotte. This makes them ideal for compact, heavy storage blocks required for large masonry heater fireboxes.

Depending on the design of the stove casing, average surface temperatures of 35–50 °C are achieved. This corresponds to a specific heating output of 150–300 W/m². With a stove surface area of 4–7 m², this results in a total heating output of approximately 1,000–2,000 W, which is released gradually into the room over many hours.

Heat-storing concrete look
Modern stove casing

Minimalist, authentic, and elegant – the fireplace body reveals itself in its purest form. Precisely crafted heat-storing concrete elements are cast and assembled with fine shadow joints. The aesthetic appeal lies in the deliberate play of irregularities: edges and slight unevenness give the concrete surface its distinctive character, creating a calm and refined appearance.

For those who prefer a more individual design, the surface can be customized according to personal taste. You can find out more about the available options here.
