The kitchen fireplace for bon vivants – grill, braise, roast, and cook like in the old days

Primarly atmosphere
The effect of the open fireplace
URFEUER® fireplaces are not only available as kitchen models but also in various designs — wall-mounted, freestanding, or integrated directly into the kitchen. These are open fireplaces without separating glass, radiating not only gentle warmth but also the scent and sound of real fire throughout the living space. The focus is on atmosphere and the calming presence that only fire can provide.
This is why BRUNNER calls its open fireplaces URFEUER® — because, since ancient times, open fires were humanity’s very first true sources of warmth. The heat output of an URFEUER® fireplace is secondary, typically around 20 to 30 percent. Although one might think that an open fire without glass emits more heat into the room than one with glass, the opposite is actually true.

Visually and technically refined
The BRUNNER kitchen fireplace can be integrated into the planning of a new kitchen. It is built at countertop height and framed with a front shelf surface. This way, the URFEUER® brings comfort and character even to modern kitchen designs. The plate above the combustion chamber provides direct, quick, and intense heat for cooking, while the plates positioned slightly apart from the chamber are ideal for keeping food warm or letting it rest.
The grill spit is equipped with a durable geared motor operating at two rotations per minute. It is optimally positioned toward the rear wall of the open kitchen fireplace, allowing roasts, joints, or roast beef to cook slowly and evenly — always to perfection.
Grill odors are vented through the chimney, with the extractor hood already integrated. As an alternative to the spit grill, the embers can be spread across the fireplace floor for surface grilling — ideal for juicy steaks, delicate scampi, or refined meat and vegetable skewers. The possibilities for preparing meals are virtually limitless.

Safety doesn’t have to be visible

Pressure equalization
Because open fireplaces draw a large amount of air from the room — around 300 to 400 cubic meters per hour — a well-thought-out design is essential. In older buildings, this is usually not a problem, as fresh air can flow in naturally through leaks, gaps, and joints in windows and doors. However, in modern, airtight, or well-insulated houses, the air volume in the room decreases, creating negative pressure that can cause smoke gases to enter the living area.
To prevent this, BRUNNER has developed the following technology: URFEUER® fireplaces regulate pressure equalization through a supply and exhaust air system with an external air connection. This ensures that the fire is always supplied with sufficient fresh air. The air is directed precisely to the combustion area, preventing any draught effects. This system represents the highest level of safety — developed and patented by BRUNNER over many years.

Spark protection
Safety is also ensured by the spark protection system featured in all URFEUER® fireplaces. As inviting as an open fire may be, softwood can spark or embers can fall out if left unattended. Normally, one would need to keep constant watch over the fire during combustion — something that’s not always practical.
For this reason, BRUNNER has designed a fine mesh screen made of black-lacquered stainless steel that can be smoothly lowered or raised. When retracted, it disappears completely into a narrow gap between the fire protection panels — invisible both when lowered and when stored. The eye never perceives the protective screen at any point during operation, meaning it does not interfere with the experience or enjoyment of the open fire.
