Photovoltaic stove heating system

Hybrid heating with the BRUNNER Photovotaic stove heating system – combining beauty with functionality

For many houseowners, choosing the right heating system comes down to two key factors: efficiency and independence from central energy supply networks. The solution should not only be self-sufficient, but also cost-efficient and environmentally responsible. We developed a solution to meet this challenge and made a forward-thinking system that complies with the German Building Energy Act (GEG) – and does so without relying on a heat pump.

Supplied with warmth
all year round

The BRUNNER PV stove heating system combines a photovoltaic system (minimum 10 kWp) with a water-bearing stove and a central control unit.

The solar power generated by the PV system is used to cover the building’s heating needs. From April to October, a modern PV system can supply the full energy demand of a new-build home.

On cold winter days, the wood-burning stove steps in to support the system. In a newly built 150 m² home built to the KfW Efficiency House 40 standard, the stove can be operated with just 10 to 25 kg of firewood per day – enough to remain fully energy independent without using electricity from the grid.

The advantages of the PV stove heating system combination

The BRUNNER system offers maximum independence without relying on central energy supply networks. By combining solar power, electricity and wood, it creates a highly efficient heating solution that delivers reliable warmth – even in winter. And when needed, you still have the option to use electricity from the grid. This means you stay flexible at all times while enjoying high heating performance – no matter the outside temperature.

The BRUNNER system provides warmth whenever it’s needed – instantly and effortlessly. A central control unit and an electric heating rod in the system’s buffer tank convert surplus solar power into heat, continuously adjustable from 100 to 9,000 watts. All system components are clearly displayed on a single interface, allowing you to monitor and manage heat flow with ease. This ensures full control over your energy use at all times.

One of the key benefits of using renewable energy is sustainability and the environmentally friendly way of heating. With the PV stove heating system, most of the heating demand can be covered by renewable sources. This significantly reduces reliance on fossil fuels and helps protect the environment. And because a heat pump can be added at any time, the system remains flexible for the future.

Heating with solar energy -
even in winter

A modern PV system can fully cover the energy needs of a new-build home from April to October using free solar power.

  • With BRUNNER’s PV integration, leftover solar electricity can be seamlessly converted into heat.
  • Direct electric heating is possible – dynamically adjustable from 100 to 9,000 watts.
  • Comfort is always guaranteed, thanks to the option of drawing electricity from the grid when needed.
  • The system delivers a constant level of efficiency – regardless of flow temperature or outdoor conditions.

Which heating solution is the right fit? That’s up to you:

  • Pure – system control with a 750/1000-liter hygienic buffer tank: simple and maintenance-free.
  • Premium – system control with the BRUNNER heating unit BHZ 3.0 and a 750/1000-liter stratified buffer tank: a refined solution that’s maintenance-free and future-ready.

And if your needs or lifestyle change over time, a heat pump can always be added later.
